Whitehead, Daryll - CreelHere we have a very rare creel indeed, a steelhead creel woven by Daryll Whitehead and leathered by Freeman Mariner. These two made very few creels and all were given away to friends in the early 90's. Other examples can be seen in the book "The Art of the Creel" which was dedicated to Whitehead. The creel has been displayed and never used of course and remains in excellent condition. The silver cartouche on the front was engraved by Paolo Barbetti.

The reel is left hand retrieve and is in excellent+ condition with only some very slight use marks

This is perhaps the earliest example of the "Hunt" model rod

This one is right-hand retrieve

The rod remains in excellent condition with original bag and tube

For sale here is a nifty little Tom Maxwell bamboo rod with the Top Hat logo inked above the winding check

This one looks to be the earlier of the two we are selling

The rod features darker straw colored cane with transparent honey-colored wraps

yet original

The finish is impregnated

Reel has retained most of its original leading/bluing

The masking tape with Gary's writing that he typically applied atop the original clear grip wrapping is still attached to the tube
