Ponsot Corton Bressandes Grand Cru 2013A brooding and reticent nose only grudgingly reveals aromas of plum, dark currant, game, earth and underbrush hints. There is excellent volume and intensity to the muscular and broad shouldered flavors that possess fine mid palate concentration, all wrapped in a powerful, focused, mineral inflected and moderately austere finish.

The 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard (the last Eisele produced at Phelps) is full-bodied

This is austere but not really rustic and should amply reward mid to long-term cellaring

it's clear that the two bottles opened at that tasting were not representative

There is a velvety and highly seductive character to the wonderfully rich and generous middle weight flavors that also brim with palate coating dry extract before culminating in a seriously long anise-infused finish
