1983 Squier Japan JV Series ST501 Contemporary Stratocaster (Olympic White)

1983 Squier Japan JV Series ST501 Contemporary Stratocaster (Olympic White)From the famous Fender Japan JV series of guitars made by the Fujigen factory in the early to mid 1980's, this is a very clean example of the Squier branded ST501 model. Olympic White finish on an alder body (with a matching headstock), a U shape maple neck with a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard (medium jumbo frets, 42. 5mm nut width, 648mm scale length), it weighs 3. 5kg's. Seemingly all original with Hod Rod alnico single coils and an End Rox tremolo

Serial number on the neck heel is missing as the previous owner lightly sanded the neck for a smoother finish

Interestingly this one has no sign of a strap button anywhere near the neck joint or either horns and it also has a second output jack where a usual Left Handed one would be on the opposite side of the body

the Bottom Line STD models can best be described as a less-pointy Forest bass from ESP

Looks to be almost identical specs to the Hohners we've had except for the lack of branding and a missing leg rest

Aged nitrocellulose finish on a carved one-piece mahogany body with a one-piece mahogany neck (reasonably slim '59 profile)

The truss was adjusted prior to listing along with a restring and fretboard oil

One of the Japanese models made by Zephyr in the Zemaitis style

Believed to be a custom order from one of ESP's Japanese dealers around 1990 (dated by the serial number on the headstock)
