Silver Morton's Patent "The Maze" Vesta Stamped Sterling SilverAn unusual bottle shaped Victorian silver Morton's patent "The Maze" vesta. This is shaped like a bottle with shield shaped cartouche, profusely decorated with a foliate pattern all over. The twist mechanism is unique to these Vestas and as the top is twisted round the mechanism retracts to reveal a hole in the top to remove the matches. A great piece of collectable silver. A lovely Victorian solid silver vinaigrette decorated with all Ivy leaf decoration and a ribbon cartouche to the top

The back is also engraved with the same Acanthus pattern and the sides are much plainer but still

they are in good condition just showing wear commensurate with age

The design on the top focuses around a central circular cartouche whilst the base has a more classic all over Greek Key design

This is a large frame and makes a real statement it has a very good quality and sturdy wooden back

The marks are in the base and these are small but clear

There are very minor surface marks commensurate with age and light use

Date: 1857

The lid fits snugly and the glass is undamaged
