Chateau Pichon Longueville au Baron de Pichon Longueville Vintage 1979The original estate was founded in 1689 as Enclos Rauzan and became Pichon Baron in 1694. It was splint into Pichon Baron and Pichon Comtesse in 1850 through inheritance. The 1979 vintage was thought of as a reasonably good year, but in our experience it has turned out better than expected in its senior years. Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot. 75cl bottle. Abv not stated. Bottle condition, Capsule good, label good, wine level top shoulder
I don't think many +20 year old LBVs would do much better than this
from a bakingly hot vintage
this wine is made with the same quality requirements as the Grand Vin and La Dame de Montrose selections
which is quite unusual for a Bordeaux property
