The device is made in Germany by A Meissner Berlin in early 1900s. The device is still functional with some minimal wear and tear and nice patina. Dimensions: 9 1 4 inch diameter and 2 inch height.

The device still has the original flight recording marks from that era (a seal was locking the square aluminum case (the device was opened recently by mistake)

The stand has a few small cracks due to the age

In the past the monocular most likely had a leather cover

The monocular is a Galilean style telescope with a 10 mm eye piece and 26 mm object lens

A metallic stylus scrapes away the soot to create a precise
